I had about 5 students hang around after class today and ask if they had to memorize all I talked about. I must admit I laughed and then I told them the amount of knowledge in the world was doubling every year and a half and asked them how they were going to memorize all that info. They kind of got it. I mentioned that I simply looked up everything I needed whenever I needed it. I call it just in time learning and Google is your best friend.
The students really want to do well which is rather refreshing. However it does make them kind of steadfast in their desire to memorize everything. Tomorrow will be a discussion period as we move off programming for a day to talk about Computers and Society!
TTYL,
Jim
