Cambodia - Phnom Pehn

I am having real difficulties remembering how to spell Phnom Pehn.  We flew out of KL at 3:30 pm  and were in Cambodia 2 hours later at 4:30 pm. Yes, the math is right as we lost an hour.  The arrival was okay, and the visa was $20 U.S. and you don't need a photo as they will take one there on the spot for $4 U.S. The hotel had arranged for a cab for us and we were off in no time.

The hotel is called the manor house and is lovely. It's one of those small boutique hotels with 16 rooms and an owner operator who really seems to care about you. Highly recommended at $46 U.S. per night, including breakfast.  We walked over to the FCC (Foreign Correspondent Club) and had a wood fired pizza (meat lovers for me and goat cheese for Shelley). We then headed back to the hotel for a swim and a little internet time. Oh yes, the internet is free at the Manor House and works great.

On the plane I had a great chat (yes, I have become a little more chatty) with a Cambodian who filled me in on all things Cambodian and even gave me his business card to call him in case I had any more questions.  Cambodians seem very nice. I expected Cambodia to be like Bali but it is better because they have some infrastructure and fewer people, although there are 2.5 million people in Phnom Pehn.

We are on holidays until next Thursday (today is Friday) because of Chinese New Year.

I am looking forward to the next few days!  Photos will be arriving soon.

TTYL,

Jim
